When you use our Service, we automatically collect:

3. Sharing Your Information

To enable transportation services, we share with Providers:

3.2 With Parents

Parents can see:

4. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance

Hop2School is committed to protecting the privacy of children. Our Service involves information about children solely to provide school transportation tracking and coordination. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

4.1 Information We Collect About Children

We collect the following information about children, provided exclusively by their parent or legal guardian:

  • Child's first name and last name
  • Date of birth and grade
  • School or hub assignment
  • Photo (optional, provided by parent)
  • Pickup and drop-off addresses
  • Seat type preference (car seat, booster seat, or none)

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Children do not have accounts and do not interact with the Service directly.

4.2 How We Use Children's Information

Children's information is used strictly for:

  • Assigning children to transportation trips and routes
  • Enabling real-time tracking for parents during trips
  • Providing pickup and drop-off notifications to parents
  • Managing absence reporting
  • Coordinating with the child's assigned transportation Provider

We do not use children's information for marketing, advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the transportation service.

4.3 Sharing Children's Information

Children's information is shared only with:

  • The transportation Provider and assigned driver for the child's trips
  • The child's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) linked to their account

We do not sell, rent, or share children's data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4.4 Parental Rights

Parents and legal guardians have the right to:

  • Review the personal information collected about their child by contacting us at privacy@hop2school.com
  • Request corrections to their child's information through the app or by contacting us
  • Request deletion of their child's information at any time. Upon request, we will delete the child's data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law
  • Revoke consent for the collection and use of their child's information. Note that revoking consent may result in the inability to use the transportation tracking service for that child

4.5 Data Retention for Children

We retain children's information only for as long as the child is actively enrolled with a transportation Provider on the platform. When a child is removed from the platform by a parent or Provider, their personal information is deleted within 90 days, with the exception of trip log records which may be retained in anonymized form for safety and compliance purposes.

4.6 Reporting Concerns

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@hop2school.com and we will promptly delete such information.

5. Location Data

Location tracking is a core feature of our Service:

  • For Parents: We use your location to show nearby Providers and optimize pickup suggestions
  • For Providers: We track vehicle location during trips to enable real-time tracking for Parents
  • Location data is only collected when the app is in use or during active trips
  • You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but this will limit app functionality

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:

We may retain certain information longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
